No-Code Record and Replay Automation: When It Works, When It Doesn't and How to Run One Script on Many Profiles

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 3 min read

What is record-and-replay automation?

You press record, then do the task by hand: open a page, type in a field, click a button, scroll. The tool captures each action as a step. Replaying runs the same steps again, and you can edit them, so the job that took you ten minutes once can run on its own as many times as you need.

When does it work, and when doesn't it?

It works well forIt breaks on
Pages whose layout stays stableLayouts that change often
Routine tasks you repeat: checking a dashboard, updating a field, exporting a reportContent that loads unpredictably
The same steps across many profiles or many rows of dataSteps that need a person's judgement
Work that benefits from running on a scheduleCAPTCHAs, or a code that arrives for someone else
Short tasks with a clear endSites that forbid automation or limit how fast you may go

Avoid automating actions with legal or financial consequences unless someone reviews the result.

Seven habits for scripts that last

  1. Keep each script short and single-purpose. Chain small scripts instead of recording one huge one.
  2. Start from a known state. The profile is signed in and the right page is open.
  3. Wait for a condition, not for a fixed time. Fixed delays are slow and still fail on a slow day. Playwright's documentation shows the idea in its auto-waiting.
  4. Use conditions. Handle "if this pop-up appears" instead of assuming it won't.
  5. Keep per-profile data in a spreadsheet. Don't hard-code names and values into steps.
  6. Add a check that stops the script when something unexpected happens.
  7. Scale in steps. Test on one profile, then five, then all.

How do you run one script on many profiles?

Four settings matter when one script runs on many profiles:

SettingWhat it doesWhy it matters
ThreadsHow many profiles run at the same timeMore threads finish sooner and use more of your PC
RestA pause between runsKeeps the pace gentle
ConditionsWhether a profile should run at allSkips profiles that aren't ready
Input variablesDifferent values for each profileOne script, many identities

After a run, look at which profiles failed and re-run only those.

How does it work in ADSSPEED?

  • Record in the browser. Turn recording on and use the browser as normal; clicks, inputs and scrolls are captured.
  • Edit with blocks. Adjust each step with drag-and-drop blocks: loops, conditions, waits, getting a one-time code, and reading a spreadsheet.
  • Run on many profiles. Run the same script on many profiles at once, each with its own identity.
  • Schedule it. Run now, at a set time, or every day.
  • Drive it from code. From version 2.9.221 the local API can list, run, track and stop scripts and campaigns, and manage schedules. It can't edit a script's contents.

If you prefer to write code, see Selenium vs Playwright vs Puppeteer.

Example: a daily dashboard check across 20 profiles

  1. Record once: open the dashboard, read the figure, and copy it to a spreadsheet row.
  2. Make it robust: add a wait for the page to finish loading, and a condition that closes a pop-up if one appears.
  3. Take the data out of the steps: put each profile's label in a spreadsheet and read it inside the script.
  4. Test on one profile and fix what breaks.
  5. Run on 20 profiles, for example 5 at a time with a few seconds of rest between runs.
  6. Schedule it to repeat every day, and re-run only the profiles that failed.

Use it responsibly

Automate accounts you own or are authorised to manage, such as client or brand accounts handled by an agency (how agencies keep client accounts apart). Don't use automation for spam or fake engagement, and respect each platform's rules and rate limits.

Frequently asked questions

What is no-code record-and-replay automation?

You turn recording on, use the browser as normal, and the tool captures each click, text entry and scroll as a step. You can then replay those steps, edit them, and run them again without writing code.

Do I need to know programming?

No for recording and replaying. Understanding conditions and loops helps you build scripts that handle changes, and ADSSPEED lets you add them as drag-and-drop blocks.

Can I run the same script on many profiles at once?

Yes. A script can run on many profiles together, each with its own cookies, settings and proxy. From version 2.9.221 the local API can also run scripts and campaigns, with a set number of threads, pauses between runs and input variables for each profile.

Can I schedule a script?

Yes. You can run a script now, at a chosen time, or repeat it every day. From version 2.9.221 the local API can add, switch on and off, and delete schedules.

What can't record-and-replay automate?

Steps that need a person, such as a CAPTCHA or a code sent to someone else, pages that change layout often, and sites that forbid automation or limit how fast you may go. It is also unsuitable for actions with legal or financial consequences that nobody reviews.

Is it allowed to automate my accounts?

Only where the platform's rules allow it. Use automation for accounts you own or are authorised to manage, never for spam or fake engagement, and respect each site's terms.
