Why Does Strava Keep Logging Me Out? Login Errors, One-Time Codes and Security Emails

By ADSSPEED Team · Published · Updated · 6 min read

Why does Strava keep logging me out on a computer?

Strava's Help Center points to a short list of causes: a typo or a wrong one-time code, too many login requests in a given period, and browser extensions or ad blockers that get in the way. Its Cookie Policy (effective date shown: 1 January 2026) adds a fourth: it says Strava relies on essential cookies to confirm who is signed in and to keep you signed in according to your preferences, so anything that removes or blocks those cookies ends the session.

In a browser, cookies belong to the browser profile; Chromium's documentation lists them among profile data. Chrome Help warns that if you delete cookies you may be signed out of sites that remember you, and it says an Incognito session keeps no site data once it ends and does not sign you in to websites automatically. A cleaning tool, a manual cookie wipe or a private window can therefore look like Strava logging you out. The guide on incognito windows, VPNs and profiles explains the difference.

None of the Strava pages read for this guide ties a login problem to using several accounts on one computer, or to a particular device or location. The causes below are the ones Strava documents.

What does each message or symptom mean?

The table summarises Strava's pages as read on 3 October 2026.

SymptomWhat Strava's pages sayWhat to do
Error message when you log inA mistyped email or password, a wrong one-time code, or more login requests than Strava allows in a given periodFollow the steps in the next section
A one-time code never arrivesA code is valid for 5 minutes. Wait 1 hour before requesting another, and look in Promotions, Spam and TrashRequest again after the wait; use the chat widget if codes keep failing
Signed out after clearing data or using a private windowStrava says essential cookies keep you logged in, and Chrome Help says an Incognito session keeps no site dataSign in again, and keep using the browser profile that holds the session
Email saying your password or email was updated, and you did not do itThe page asks you to see whether you can still log inIf login fails, reset the password at Strava's recovery page. If the email changed, contact Support with a link to your account
Email titled Important - Unauthorized Strava Account ActivityA third party gained access to your login credentials outside StravaReset the password, change the same password on other sites, and use a password manager
Facebook sign-in stopped workingStrava no longer supports Facebook credentialsEmail with a one-time code, Google, or password recovery
Asked to confirm your ageWhere the law requires it in some regions, Strava checks your age range with tools from Apple and GoogleThe page does not say whether this applies to the website, the app or both

How do you fix a login error, step by step?

These steps follow the Help Center page on login errors, which refers to the website, plus the page on supported browsers.

  1. Wait one hour, then log in again with the email address and password spelled correctly.
  2. Clear the browser's history and cache, quit the browser completely and reopen it. Clearing cookies can sign you out of other sites too, so do it in the profile that has the problem.
  3. Try a different web browser. Strava's browser page lists Firefox and Chrome for Windows, and Safari, Firefox and Chrome for Mac.
  4. Temporarily disable extensions and ad or tracking blockers, then log in.
  5. If nothing worked, wait 24 hours before trying again.
  6. Still stuck? Contact Support and say which browsers, extensions and third-party applications you have installed, with as much detail as you can to help verify the account.

What changes when several accounts share one computer?

A shared computer adds friction in a few documented places, even though no page describes a check aimed at a second account.

  • Login requests add up. The login-error page does not publish its threshold. Signing in and out of different accounts again and again produces more login requests than staying signed in. The page's steps start and end with waiting: one hour, then 24 hours.
  • One profile means one set of cookies. If two people alternate in one browser profile, every handover means signing out and in again. Separate profiles let each session stay where it is; see the profile guide for Strava.
  • Email changes ripple. After a change of email, Strava recommends logging out of Strava on all mobile devices and web browsers, then logging back in, so the old address does not return on a device that was still signed in.
  • Security emails go to the account's own address. Keep that mailbox with the person who owns the account, because the reset steps are email-based.

What if someone else got in, or the account is suspended?

If you suspect unauthorised access

Try to log in with your email and password. If that fails, reset the password at Strava's recovery page. If you are still signed in and know the current password, Settings, My Account, Change Password is the other route. If the email address was changed, the Help Center asks you to contact Support with a link to your account. Change the same password on any other site, and use a unique, strong password kept in a password manager.

If the account is suspended

Strava's enforcement page describes a range of responses, from a warning and a temporary suspension up to a permanent suspension for the most serious offences. If you can no longer get in, you can write to Strava to ask for an appeal, and a specialist team may ask for more context. The Acceptable Use Policy (effective date shown: 2 July 2025) says to follow the steps in the email you received, that you can appeal up to six months after the decision, and that a person reviews the appeal and may grant it, ask for more information or deny it. The enforcement page adds that an appeal does not promise the decision will be reversed.

Do not answer a suspension by opening a new account: the same policy lists getting around an enforcement action, for example by creating a new account after a suspension, as a violation.

How to reach Strava Support

The Help Center says the fastest route is its chatbot, reached after you log in, and that people who cannot access their account can email Support. There is no callback service.

Where ADSSPEED fits

ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in without signing each other out, rather than being logged in and out again every time someone takes a turn. Profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, a proxy can be set per profile, and profile data stays on your own computer. ADSSPEED does not change how Strava handles sign-ins or appeals. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Strava.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Strava keep logging me out?

Strava's Cookie Policy says it uses essential cookies to keep you logged in, so cleared or blocked cookies, a private window or a cleaning tool end the session. Extensions and ad blockers can also interfere, and the Help Center advises disabling them temporarily when you log in.

Why is my Strava login code not working?

According to the Help Center (read 3 October 2026), a one-time code is valid for 5 minutes, and you should wait 1 hour before requesting another to avoid limits on login attempts. Check Promotions, Spam and Trash, or use the chat widget if codes keep failing.

Does Strava have two-factor authentication?

The Help Center pages read for this guide describe signing in with a password or with a one-time code sent by email, plus security emails. They do not describe a separate two-step verification setting. Check Settings and My Account on strava.com to see what your account offers.

Why is Strava Facebook login not working?

Strava has dropped Facebook as a way to log in. The Help Center says to use the email address tied to your Facebook account with a one-time code, to use Google if that address is a Gmail address, or to start password recovery.

How do I log out of Strava on all devices?

The pages read describe no log-out-everywhere button. After an email change, Strava recommends logging out on all mobile devices and web browsers and back in. If you suspect unauthorised access, reset your password using Strava's recovery page.

What should I do if my Strava account is suspended?

Write to Strava Support to request an appeal and follow the steps in the enforcement email. The Acceptable Use Policy says you can appeal up to six months after the decision, and the Help Center notes an appeal does not promise a reversal.
