Can Chrome Profiles Keep Several WeChat Web Sign-Ins Apart?
Can separate browser profiles keep several WeChat sign-ins apart?
For WeChat's web pages, yes, in the ordinary sense: each Chrome profile has its own cookies and settings, so each can hold its own sign-in. For the WeChat desktop app, no, because a profile only separates what a browser stores.
Tencent's customer-service page on signing in to an Official Account or Service Account says that currently one browser cannot be logged in to several accounts at once, and it recommends different browsers for multiple accounts. The page shows no date; it was read on 3 October 2026. A separate profile is the usual way to follow that advice, and what a browser profile is and how it differs from private windows and VPNs are covered in their own guides.
What does a profile separate, and what does it leave alone?
| Option | What it keeps apart | What it leaves alone |
|---|---|---|
| Separate Chrome profile | Bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings; Chromium keeps each profile's cookies in its own folder inside the user data directory | The computer itself, and your phone |
| Firefox container | Cookies, local storage, IndexedDB and caches inside one window | History and bookmarks, which stay shared |
| Either of them | Web sign-ins, one per profile or container | Every WeChat sign-in still needs a QR scan or confirmation on the phone that holds the account |
Chrome Help suggests profiles for sharing a computer and for keeping accounts such as work and personal apart.
Which WeChat pages live in a browser?
| Page | How you sign in, per official pages | Is a profile useful? |
|---|---|---|
| Web WeChat (web.wechat.com) | Scan the QR code from the phone and confirm; the page says it needs browser cookies; the same account cannot also be on the Windows or Mac app | Yes |
| Official Accounts Platform (mp.weixin.qq.com) | QR scan by the administrator's or an operator's WeChat, or the account's bound email or WeChat ID with its own password; one browser cannot hold several accounts at once | Yes: this is the case Tencent describes |
| WeCom admin console | QR scan with the WeCom app; only super and tiered administrators; SMS verification can be switched on by the enterprise | Yes |
| WeChat for Windows or Mac | Phone-confirmed sign-in; Switch Account on the login page | No: it is an app, not a browser page |
Step by step: one Chrome profile for each account
- List the accounts and decide who owns each one: one profile per account, or one per client if you manage several accounts for them.
- In Chrome, click the profile icon at the top right and choose Add Chrome profile. Pick a name, photo and colour. Chrome Help says signing in with a Google Account is optional.
- In the new profile, open the page you need: web.wechat.com, mp.weixin.qq.com or the WeCom admin console.
- Scan the QR code with the right phone: the account's own WeChat for Web WeChat, the administrator's or an operator's WeChat for the Official Accounts Platform, and the WeCom app for the WeCom console. Then confirm.
- Repeat in a new profile for each further account. To move between them, open the profile menu and pick the profile.
- To rename a profile later, choose Manage Chrome profiles, click More on it and choose Edit.
Naming, hand-over and backups
- Naming. Name each profile after the account's purpose and your role, for example Brand A, Official Account administrator, so nobody opens the wrong console. Keep passwords out of names.
- Hand-over. Do not pass a signed-in profile to a colleague as a way to share an account: WeChat's Terms bar letting anyone else use your account. Add the person as an operator or a WeCom admin instead, as the business article explains, so they sign in with their own WeChat.
- Backups. A profile's data, cookies included, sits in Chrome's user data folder. Chromium documents the default as
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Google\Chrome\User Dataon Windows and~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chromeon macOS. A copy of that folder holds live sign-ins, so store it like a password. It does not replace account recovery, which relies on the linked mobile number and email. - Deleting. Chrome Help warns that deleting a profile erases its bookmarks, history, passwords and other settings from the computer, and that anyone with your device can switch to any other Chrome profile on it.
What if a sign-in still fails in its profile?
- The QR code expired. Web WeChat shows a refresh message. Refresh and scan again.
- The same account is open elsewhere. Sign out of the Windows or Mac app or of the web page, because the Help Center says one account cannot be on both at once.
- Cookies are blocked. Web WeChat says it requires them to log you in.
- The Official Accounts Platform finds no account for your WeChat. The sign-in page shows a no-account message when the scanning WeChat is not linked to a platform account. Ask the administrator to bind you as an operator.
- A verification or already-logged-in prompt appears. Follow why WeChat logs you out or asks to verify.
- You expected two WeCom accounts on one computer. WeCom's Help Center says one computer or phone does not currently support logging in to two WeCom accounts.

Where ADSSPEED fits
Once you manage dozens of web sign-ins, ADSSPEED can organise them. It is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles; every profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile, and profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk. Profile data stays on your own computer. It covers browser pages only, not the WeChat desktop app. Use it only for accounts you own or are authorised to manage. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with WeChat. See how to install ADSSPEED on Windows.
Frequently asked questions
Can I log in to WeChat web in Chrome?
Yes. Web WeChat at web.wechat.com opens in a browser: you scan the QR code with WeChat on your phone and confirm the login. Its page says it needs browser cookies to let you log in, and the same account cannot be on Web WeChat and on WeChat for Windows or Mac at the same time.
Can I log in to WeChat on my computer without a QR code?
A Tencent support page in Chinese for the Windows version describes two methods: choose the login option on the computer and confirm on your phone, or scan the QR code with the phone. Both depend on the phone, and the pages checked for this guide describe no password-only sign-in for the desktop app.
Why does WeChat web ask for browser cookies?
The sign-in page states that Web WeChat requires browser cookies to help you log in so the web application can work. Cookies are stored inside each browser profile, which is why a separate profile gives each web sign-in its own space.
Can browser profiles separate the WeChat desktop app?
No. WeChat for Windows and Mac is an installed app that signs in by scanning a QR code with your phone, and a Chrome profile only separates what the browser stores. The Help Center's documented way to change accounts in the app is Switch Account on its login page.
How do I log in to a WeChat Official Account on a computer?
Open mp.weixin.qq.com in a browser. Tencent's support pages list the account's bound email or its WeChat ID with the account's own password, or a QR scan by the administrator's or an operator's WeChat. One browser cannot be logged in to several of these accounts at once, so use a separate profile or browser for each.
