Why Does TikTok Keep Logging Me Out or Asking Me to Verify? Causes and Official Fixes
Why does TikTok keep logging me out on my computer?
You are signed out when the cookies that hold your login are gone, and TikTok recommends extra verification for sign-ins from an unfamiliar device while flagging unusual account behaviour for you to review. From your side the two can look alike: you are asked to sign in again, or to prove it is you.
The ordinary cause is cookies. TikTok's Cookies Policy (updated 4 November 2024) says some of its cookies are what let the site remember that you are logged in, and it points to your browser's settings for controlling cookies and local storage. If those cookies are cleared, blocked, or stored in a different profile or a private window (see how a private window differs from a profile), TikTok has nothing to recognise you by.
The security cause is TikTok's own protection. Its newsroom post introducing Security Checkup (17 March 2025) says TikTok spots unusual account behaviour on its own and flags it for your review, and it suggests turning on 2-Step Verification for sign-ins from an unfamiliar device. When several accounts share one computer, keep both causes in mind: a browser profile keeps one set of cookies, and a sign-in from somewhere new can trigger a check.
What TikTok says it looks at
| Signal | What TikTok's page says | Source (read 3 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Login status | Some cookies are what let the site remember that you are logged in | Cookies Policy, updated 4 November 2024 |
| Safety cookies | Some cookies are used to stop fraudulent attacks and to spot bots (non-human traffic) and suspicious activity | Cookies Policy |
| Device and network details | TikTok collects details such as your IP address, user agent and mobile carrier, and assigns user IDs and device IDs | Privacy Policy, updated 8 July 2025 |
| Why it uses them | To spot and counter abuse, fraud, spam and other harmful or illegal activity, and to confirm who you are or how old you are | Privacy Policy |
| Unfamiliar device | 2-Step Verification adds protection when you log in from an unfamiliar device | Newsroom, 17 March 2025 |
| Unusual behaviour | TikTok spots it itself and flags it in Security & permissions | Newsroom, 17 March 2025 |
These pages do not list exact triggers, so nobody can promise which sign-ins will or will not prompt a check. What you can control is the setup around them.
Step by step: get back in and secure the account in the TikTok app
- Try signing in again normally. If that fails, TikTok's Help Center has a Log in section whose articles include Reset password, Email and phone number, My account logged out automatically, Log in with a passkey and Still need help?
- Once you are in, open your profile, then Settings and privacy, then Security & permissions. TikTok's newsroom places Security Checkup there. The post does not say whether it also exists in the browser version, so use the app.
- Add both a phone number and an email address as a fallback for signing in.
- Turn on 2-Step Verification.
- Open Manage devices and remove devices you do not recognise or no longer use.
- Consider a passkey, which TikTok describes as device-based sign-in such as Face ID.
TikTok for Business logins in a browser
Agencies and in-house teams often sign in to TikTok Ads Manager and Business Center on a computer. TikTok's help pages for these logins explain the prompts in more detail:
| What you see | What TikTok says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| A 6-digit code request at sign-in | TikTok says it occasionally asks TikTok for Business users to verify the account, with a code sent to the registered email or phone (updated May 2025) | Check the registered email or phone and your spam folders, then request the code again |
| A 2-step verification prompt | An extra step after your password, with text message, email or an authenticator app as methods; set up under User settings, then Account Security | Choose more than one method so you always have a way in |
| A Don't ask again for this device checkbox | TikTok says it means no code when you sign in from that device and browser | Tick it only on a computer you control; elsewhere the option does not apply |
| No new code after repeated requests | TikTok says to leave at least an hour before asking for another code (updated June 2026) | Wait, then request once |
| A network error at login | TikTok suggests pausing ad blockers, switching off a VPN or firewall for the moment, and trying a different browser or device | Try those steps |
| A locked or suspended account, ad account or Business Center | TikTok says to read its notification emails, which explain the cause | Follow them, then contact TikTok for Business support if you are still stuck |
| A code request when downloading ad data | Data Security Verification, active for 10 days once you verify (updated June 2026) | Enter the code; expect it again after 10 days |
To reset a Business Center password you need access to the email or phone number used when the account was created. TikTok says that without it you cannot reset the password and need to contact support.
Several accounts on one computer: keep each sign-in steady
TikTok describes the trusted-device option as applying to a device and browser, and recommends 2-Step Verification for unfamiliar devices. In practice that argues for giving each account one browser profile and keeping it there: do not clear TikTok's cookies in that profile on exit, sign in from a computer you control, and keep the phone number and email on each account current. When you do sign in somewhere new, expect a code. That is the check working as intended, and the answer is to complete it.
On a shared computer, do not tick the trusted-device box, and do not hand colleagues a signed-in profile. Give each person their own route in with Business Center permissions or an Organization Account, as described in managing several TikTok accounts with Business Center. To see how profiles hold logins apart, read what a browser profile is and TikTok multiple accounts on one PC.
What if it still fails?
- You cannot receive codes. Confirm that you still control the registered email or phone number. If you have lost both, TikTok points you to customer support.
- The account or Business Center is locked or suspended. Read TikTok's emails about the cause first. For appeals and what the Terms say, see TikTok's rules for multiple accounts.
- You think someone else has access. For TikTok for Business accounts, TikTok's security page says to contact your account manager or customer support immediately, and that TikTok will suspend a compromised account to prevent further access.
- Your account is a personal one. Use the Help Center's Log in section and its Still need help? article.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Because each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, an account you manage stays in its own profile instead of being signed out when you open another. You can assign a proxy to each profile or to many profiles in bulk, and open, stop and organise profiles in bulk. Profile data stays on your own computer. It does not remove TikTok's checks: you still complete them with your own phone, email and authenticator. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with TikTok.
Frequently asked questions
Why does TikTok keep logging me out on my PC?
A likely reason is that the browser no longer holds the cookies TikTok uses to remember your login: they were cleared or blocked, or you are in a private window or a different browser profile. TikTok's Cookies Policy says some cookies are how the site remembers that you are logged in.
How do I log out of other devices on TikTok?
TikTok's Security Checkup, reached in the app under Settings and privacy, then Security & permissions, includes Manage devices. TikTok's newsroom suggests reviewing the logged-in devices and removing any you do not recognise or no longer use.
What is a suspicious login on TikTok?
TikTok says it spots unusual account behaviour itself and flags it in Security & permissions for you to review. It does not publish a list of exact triggers, so use the Security Checkup tools rather than guessing.
Why is TikTok not sending my verification code?
For TikTok for Business logins, TikTok says to confirm the registered email or phone number, check spam and junk folders, then request the code again. After repeated requests it says to leave at least an hour before trying again.
Can I stop TikTok asking for a code on my own computer?
On TikTok for Business logins, TikTok offers a Don't ask again for this device option after 2-step verification and says it applies to that device and browser. Use it only on a computer you control. On another device or browser it does not apply.
What should I do if my TikTok for Business account or Business Center is locked after a login problem?
TikTok's login troubleshooting page says to read TikTok's notification emails about the cause, and to contact TikTok for Business support if the steps do not work. Appeals are covered in our guide to TikTok's rules.
