How to Manage Several Pinterest Business Accounts for a Brand or Clients (Business Manager Roles)
How do you manage several Pinterest business accounts for a brand or clients?
Use Business Manager, not a shared login. Pinterest describes it as a set of features that help advertisers and agencies collaborate across accounts or brands. According to Pinterest's Help Center (read 3 October 2026), every employee or partner needs their own Pinterest business account, and the owner or a manager adds them with the roles and permissions described below. Naming varies across pages: this guide uses the Help Center's Business Manager, and the page on creating a business account also mentions the Pinterest Business Hub.
Who can do what in Business Manager?
| Role | Who it is for | What the Help Center says it can do |
|---|---|---|
| Account Owner | Holder of the business account | Alone controls how the account is authenticated; handles account settings; has complete control over Business Manager and over non-ad (organic) content |
| Manager | People who run access | Decide who holds which roles and permissions; besides the owner, only managers may add or remove employees and partners or hand out ad account permissions |
| Employee | People who work for the business | See only what has been granted for specific ad accounts, and have no view of other employees, partners or ad accounts |
| Partner | Outside companies, such as agencies or clients | Work from their own business accounts; are invited, or request access |
| Organization Manager | People overseeing a business hierarchy | See the whole hierarchy and every child account; can edit, manage assets and read reporting across them |
How do you add a team member or an agency?
- Each person creates their own business account first. Pinterest says a new business account can only be created from a desktop device, with an email not already used on a Pinterest account. Employees and agency partners are advised to use a professional email and their own name, not the business's name.
- Owner or manager, on the desktop site: open the menu at the top left, choose Manage business, then Business Manager, then Employees, then Add employee.
- Choose the role, Employee or Manager, and enter their business email.
- Set ad account permissions, then profile and catalog access, and send the invite.
- For an agency, use Partners, then Add partner, and enter the partner's business ID. An agency can also request access with the client's business ID and ad account ID, for up to 10 ad accounts per request. The other side approves from the email titled You have a new partner request! or from Accept invite in Business Manager.
- Add partners as partners. Pinterest warns that a partner added as an employee is hindered in sharing or getting access to ad accounts.
Which permission levels exist?
| Area | Levels named in the Help Center |
|---|---|
| Ad accounts | Admin, Analyst, Audience, Finance (edit), Finance (read), Campaigns, Catalogs |
| Profile (organic content) | Publisher: can make, change and arrange Pins and boards without business approval |
| Catalogs | Catalog Admin; Catalog ad creator |
Publisher is the answer to the password question. Pinterest says profile permissions let businesses give employees and partners Publisher access to work on their profile, boards and Pins "without sharing your login credentials". Pinterest's Community Guidelines tell users not to share passwords or let anyone access their account, and its Business Terms say a holder who opens an account for a company is responsible for ensuring only authorised individuals have access.
How do you handle several brands or clients?
- Move between accounts. Business Manager lets you navigate between the business accounts, ad accounts and profiles you own or have access to, using a dropdown that lists your business accounts.
- Business hierarchy. For businesses your organisation owns, you can build a parent and child structure and add up to 20 businesses at a time. Child accounts keep their own ad accounts, partners and employees, and adding one does not change permissions. Pinterest says a client that owns its own account and assets should stay independent of your hierarchy.
- Asset groups. Business Manager lets you group ad accounts and profiles by geography, brand or vertical, then choose which employees and partners get which permissions. Pinterest says employees can only view the ad accounts assigned to them.
- Connected tools. Third-party services ask for permissions on an authentication screen, and Pinterest advises trusting the service and reviewing those permissions before you grant them.
- Browsers. Each person should use their own browser profile for their own login; see the Pinterest profiles guide and the general client accounts guide.
What should you do when someone leaves?
- In Business Manager, open Employees, select the person, open Edit details and choose Remove employee. For a partner, use the minus icon in Partners; to end a partner's profile access, use Revoke access in the profile tab.
- If you required two-factor authentication, the Employees section shows who has enrolled, and anyone who has not cannot reach your assets.
- If the departing person created the business account with their own email, change the email under Settings, then Account management. Pinterest sends a confirmation code to the new address. The pages read for this guide do not describe a separate ownership-transfer tool.
- When a business account is no longer needed, you can convert it back to a personal one under Account management, Account changes, Convert account. Pinterest says any unpaid bills must be settled first.
If access does not work
- The person cannot see an ad account. Employees need permissions granted for each ad account they should work on.
- The invite cannot be accepted. The invitee needs a Pinterest business account.
- An agency has no access. Check that it was added as a partner, not an employee.
- An employee is locked out after a security change. With two-factor authentication enforced, they must turn it on for their own account first.
- A linked business account disappeared. Linked business accounts are no longer supported; see the switching guide.
- Sign-in checks appear. See the sign-in checks guide.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. For agencies and teams it keeps each Pinterest login in its own profile with its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so several accounts you are authorised to manage can stay signed in side by side. A proxy can be set per profile and assigned in bulk, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with Pinterest and does not replace Business Manager roles.
Frequently asked questions
How do I give someone access to my Pinterest business account?
Open the menu at the top left, go to Manage business, then Business Manager, then Employees, and choose Add employee. Pick Employee or Manager, enter their business email and set their permissions. They need their own Pinterest business account to be added.
What is the difference between an Employee and a Partner on Pinterest?
Pinterest defines employees as people who work for the business and partners as external businesses such as agencies or clients, which have their own business accounts. Pinterest warns that a partner added as an employee is hindered in sharing or getting access to ad accounts.
Can I share my Pinterest business account password with my team?
Pinterest's Community Guidelines tell people not to share their password or let anyone access their account. The official alternative is Business Manager, where Publisher access lets employees and partners work on boards and Pins without your login details.
How do I log in to my Pinterest business account?
Go to pinterest.com/login and use the business account's email and password, or Continue with Google. Pinterest's log-in page describes one set of methods and only adds business-account notes for where Settings and Log out sit in the mobile app.
Can I require two-factor authentication for my whole Pinterest team?
Yes. After registering your own account for two-factor authentication, open Business Manager, choose Business Security, turn on Require code at Login, and pick Required for everyone or Required for managers. Employees are emailed to enrol and cannot reach your assets until they do.
How do I remove an employee or partner from Pinterest Business Manager?
For an employee, open the Employees tab, select the person, open the Edit details dropdown and choose Remove employee. For a partner, use the minus icon next to their name in the Partners tab. Profile access for a partner can also be ended with Revoke access.
What is the difference between a Pinterest business account and a personal account?
Pinterest says the two are similar, but business accounts add features for business owners and marketers, including analytics. Its Terms say commercial use of Pinterest requires a business account. You can convert a personal account and switch back later.
