KakaoTalk Rules for Multiple Accounts: What Kakao's Terms and Policies Say
Is it against KakaoTalk's rules to have more than one account?
Not on the face of the documents read for this guide (3 October 2026): none of them states one maximum number of accounts per person. Kakao's rules are about identity, sharing and behaviour. The Operation Policy says that if Kakao detects creating, registering or using more than a certain number of accounts with the same information, such as an email address or phone number, or the same device, it may restrict use of and withdrawal from those accounts, limit further account creation, delete the accounts and restrict re-registration. The number is not published.
That is a rule about patterns, not an invitation. Every account is bound by the same documents, and the pages below change: the Kakao Account Terms in force were announced on 14 September 2026 and took effect on 30 September 2026.
Which document says what
| Document (version read) | Points that matter for several accounts |
|---|---|
| Kakao Account Terms (effective 30 September 2026) | Article 9: an account may be used only by its holder, and you cannot permit others to use it. Article 10: a business or organization account can be used only by the one person in charge registered on it, sharing the ID is prohibited, and it cannot be converted to a personal account or transferred. Article 12: Kakao may investigate, suspend use and restrict re-subscription |
| Operation Policy (kakao.com, no date shown) | The multiple-accounts clause above; a ban on selling, transferring or lending an account, and on trying to obtain someone else's; appeals through the Customer Center |
| KakaoTalk operational policy overview (effective 6 December 2025) | Lists service use in a way not permitted, account trade and fraudulent accounts as stability topics; restrictions can cover KakaoTalk use; appeals at any time |
| Safety Guide pages | Detail on programs, virtual numbers, account trade and fraudulent accounts |
| Channel Operation Policy (effective 1 September 2026) and Kakao Business Terms (effective 29 September 2026) | No granting account access to third parties; no automated access programs, and no agents, robots, scripts or spiders |
The numbers Kakao does publish
| Topic | What the page says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Identity verification | One person's name can be used on at most three Kakao Accounts | Korean Help Center page |
| Phone numbers | One Kakao Account per mobile number and vice versa | English Help Center page |
| Phone numbers, more detailed page | Up to five accounts can be created with one number; SMS verification once a day and twice a month per number | Korean Help Center page |
| Multi-profiles | Up to three inside one account; they are profiles, not accounts | Korean Help Center page |
The two phone-number rows disagree and neither page is dated, so rely on what the sign-up screen allows. Kakao's English page on blocked registration adds that registering multiple accounts from the same environment can be treated as abnormal usage and restrict registration, and that a very slow network, blocked cookies or ad-blocking and security programs can also trigger the message; it suggests waiting 24 hours and contacting support with the details.
What the rules rule out, in plain terms
- Sharing. Only the holder uses an account. For a business or organization account, only the one registered person in charge, and the organization answers for its use.
- Selling, lending, buying. The Operation Policy and Safety Guide forbid selling, transferring or lending your own account, and acquiring someone else's. Kakao may permanently restrict KakaoTalk use for it.
- Fraudulent accounts. The Safety Guide defines them as accounts created with someone else's information, with the name of a non-existent person or organization, or by automated means. Its examples include marketing accounts, accounts that message other users, accounts that misstate gender or age, and multiple accounts used to distort the community or manipulate opinion.
- Programs. Using abnormal programs not permitted by Kakao to call KakaoTalk's protocol or API, and building bots or macros on it, is listed as service use that is not permitted.
- Virtual numbers and false information. Joining or using KakaoTalk with false information such as virtual numbers is listed too.
What can happen, and how to appeal
Kakao can step restrictions up from temporary to permanent, and the Safety Guide says it may restrict fraudulent accounts permanently and immediately. The Operation Policy says Kakao notifies the account holder of sanctions in the service or by email as quickly as possible, unless urgency or impossibility prevents it. The Terms add that service use may be suspended and re-subscription restricted. On appeals, the KakaoTalk operational policy says users can object through Kakao Customer Service at any time and that operators review the case before deciding whether to lift the restriction. Kakao's anti-abuse measures that apply automatically are covered in why KakaoTalk logs you out or asks to verify.
How to stay inside the rules
- Give every account a real owner: you, or someone who authorised you in writing.
- Do not share logins. Add colleagues through roles, as in managing KakaoTalk Channels and Kakao Business as a team.
- Register each account with its own phone number and email, within what the sign-up screen allows.
- Do not use bots, macros or unofficial programs, and do not use virtual numbers or false details.
- Never sell, lend or buy an account.
- Turn on 2-step verification and keep recovery details current.
- Re-read the policies from time to time; several were revised between November 2025 and September 2026.
If an account is restricted, appeal instead of opening a replacement: the Operation Policy lets Kakao limit additional account creation and re-registration, and the Terms let it restrict re-subscription. For the agency angle, see how agencies manage multiple client ad accounts.
Where ADSSPEED fits
ADSSPEED is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that manages many browser profiles. Each profile keeps its own cookies, local data and browser settings, so the Kakao web accounts you manage can stay signed in side by side without signing each other out. A proxy can be set per profile, profiles can be opened, stopped and organised in bulk, and profile data stays on your own computer. It does not change what Kakao's terms allow. Use it only with accounts you own or are authorised to manage, and follow KakaoTalk's rules. ADSSPEED is not affiliated with KakaoTalk.
Frequently asked questions
Can I have two KakaoTalk accounts?
The documents read for this guide set no single maximum. They tie accounts to the user's actual information and a phone number, let Kakao restrict accounts when a certain number share the same email, phone number or device, and cap identity verification at three accounts per person's name.
Can I have two KakaoTalk accounts on one phone?
Kakao's pages read here describe no second-account mode inside one app. An English Help Center page says one Kakao Account per mobile number, with separate accounts needing separate numbers and emails, while a Korean page says up to five accounts can be created with one number, so check what the sign-up screen allows.
Can I use KakaoTalk on two devices?
As designed, the phone plus one PC or Mac. Sharing an account with other people is not allowed, because the Kakao Account Terms say an account may be used only by its holder and that you cannot permit others to use it.
Can a KakaoTalk business account be shared?
No. The Kakao Account Terms say a business or organization account can be used only by the one person in charge registered on it, and sharing the ID is prohibited. Kakao's help page says the business or organization is responsible for how the account is used.
What is the limit for KakaoTalk multiple accounts?
Kakao does not publish one limit. The Operation Policy speaks of a certain number of accounts with the same information or device and names no figure, while separate pages give three accounts per name for identity verification and up to three multi-profiles inside one account.
